DJI Mavic 3 Pro - Will the Waiting Game Be Over?

The DJI Mavic 3 (or some call it the Mavic 3 Pro) has been a hot topic since the mid-2020. Leaks and rumours are circulating on the internet about its specs and especially its release date.

Release Date

There’s nothing yet over the horizon for those eager to get their hands on the new Mavic 3 Pro. One source divulged that the original release date was slated for 2021’s third quarter. It means it can be between late July up to the end of September.

However, the DJI insider also stated that it could be pushed back between October up to December. This later release may be due to the global chip shortage. It can also be a marketing strategy, and DJI ensures that the new drone doesn’t get rushed half-baked.

In contrast to the early release rumours, an insider has also said that consumers might not see a Mavic 3 showing up until 2022. This leak might be accurate due to the release of the FPV Combo and AIR 2S. DJI launched the two this year, and there’s not much information if it will go with a third product release.

Moreover, the source stated that it has slow progress in its development. Like other companies, DJI creates multiple prototypes before settling on a final design. However, the insider said that there was no definite number of prototypes made for this product. It’s not very clear as to when it will be finally released.

Rumored Specs

Although DJI hasn’t made any press release about Mavic 2’s successor, some insiders leaked it. Last May, drawings and images of its partial design were featured on our website. Now, the insider who shared the rumored release date added some of the drone’s specifications.

The insider reported that the Mavic 3 would have an 8k video resolution with 30 fps and a variable aperture. It will likely have a digital camera from Hasselblad like its predecessor and OcuSync 3.0. Its battery will be rear-mounted as opposed to the top-mount configuration.

There’s also a possibility of the Mavic 3 integrating with the DJI FPV Goggles V2. With all these exciting features, the insider had expressed its concern regarding the pricing. They confirmed that it would be way more expensive than FPV Combo, AIR 2S, and Mavic 2. It is not guaranteed if the Mavic 3 will follow its predecessor’s footsteps of having two variants.

In March, some sources shared that the DJI Mavic 3 is still in the testing phase. It is likely that the specifications and features leaked are not final. The photos may be of the drone’s prototype ,and DJI can still make any modifications.

Mavic 2 no more?

The speculation of the Mavic 3′ release date between July to December might be true. To back it up, DJI has called for the last orders of the Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom drones. The company has reached out to its official dealers and authorised resellers for the orders.

These rumors and credible leaks push everyone on the edge of their seats while waiting for the Mavic 3. We’ll be seeing more and more photos of the product as we near its release date. Still, one question remains: when will the waiting game be over?
